At the beginning of the 40s, El Molino Bakery Production ChiefJaime Sendra was the first to talk of industrial manufacture forpan de caja(aka, pan demolde; “sliced sandwich bread”); he spoke of it to Lorenzo Servitje, thepastry Manager, saying “Why don’t we start a bakery?” A simple question and a call-out to other founders kicked off the great adventure.
In September 1945, they hired their first partner, Roberto Servitje, then only seventeen years old.
They began operations in a small Mexico City factory with just 34 employees, at 117 Calle 58 Norte in the city district knownas Santa María Insurgentes.
